"The Wind In My Hair"

Beth, in a bid to prove she is the single coolest person I know, just called to tell me that she'd found me a birthday present and that it was en route--Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, the latest DVD Miyazaki release.

Which really just proves she is one of the coolest people I know. Period. Why does this woman have to live in Florida?

I'd forgotten all about it until I saw the ads, but I think Nausicaa was the first anime I ever saw. We're talking back in first, maybe second grade. Around the time I was introduced to Voltron and Robotech, but I think this might've been first...

Because you're fun to laugh at. God said so. ;)

I think the first anime I ever saw was Project A-Ko or Robot Carnival. Maybe Dominion Tank Police. Back in the day, when the Sci-Fi Channel showed good stuff, they used to do anime marathons every so often, and I caught a lot of old-school anime (the aforementioned A-Ko, Robot Carnival, and Dominion, as well as Akira, L.I.L.Y. Cat, and a few others) back when I was about 12 or so. Never saw any of Miyazaki's work, though, and I'm thinking that was to my deteriment.

And yes, I'm fairly certain I'm fun to laugh at. Sometimes I think it's why I exist.
